Journey Info

Our buses use a range of Tachograph Units; however, their operation is quite similar.

Start of Day

Please ensure your card is entered into Slot 1 unless multi-manning with the chip facing upwards and closest to the Tachograph unit

Wait for the Tachograph Unit to read your card, displaying your surname

It will then ask for any Manual Entries to be added, select “Yes”

Keep Pressing Ok to move along Date/Time (Most of you wont need to enter any manual other work)

It will then ask for Start Country – this will always be “UK”

Ensure Operation is on “Other Work”, you can then start your Daily Checks

End of Day

Once your job has ended and you’ve completed your end of shifts checks/cleaning you need to remove your card from the Tachograph. Ensure it is set to “Rest” by pressing the Number 1 until the “Rest” icon is displayed.

Hold down Number 1 (or the button next to it on the older ones) for a few seconds until the Tachograph displays the status bar

It will then ask for End Country – this will always be “UK”

Place your card into the Reader in the Lock-Up, it will take up to 30seconds to process. Remove your card when the green light shows

Store your card safe ready for your next job

Infringement Print Outs

For any infringements that have occurred you will need to obtain a 24hr printout from the Tachograph and keep it with you for 28days, after which it must be either dropped in the safe or given in to the office – DO NOT destroy it.

Follow the process below for obtaining the print out depending on the Tachograph Unit in use

On the back of the print out write the following details:

Name – Driving Licence Number – Reason for Infringement

The only reason to drive without a Driver’s Card is if it has been Lost/Damaged/Stolen, if it’s been left at home, you MUST go back home to collect it and inform the office.

If its Lost/Damaged/Stolen you must inform the DVLA and us straight away as your new card must arrive within 15days, you can’t drive over 15days without a card.

You must do a Print-out at the start and end of each journey, on the back you MUST write your Name and License Number
